Description
The newest piece for Safe Haven Rescue Zoo is now complete
Meet Isabelle, a stunning coyote. Loving the position of her ears here, I had to paint it. The original photo was taken by Safe Haven's own photographer Kristen Kabrin.

When I saw the thumbnail of this piece, it's rich, eye-catching colors immediately caught my eye. The various shades and hues of cold blues, warm yellows and greens balance this work quite well.
The expression of the yote's eyes, whether intentional or not, gives it some character, which is also quite nice.
The anatomy is fair. The one thing that irks me is it's hind legs: canines usually have more-or-less aligned elbows and knees, as can be seen in this photo- upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… . At certain angles, the knees may appear a bit further up or further down, however in your case, the knees should be a bit further up, slightly more aligned with the elbows.
I do not know whether it's the full scan/photo of the painting, but the composition could be improved greatly in my opinion by making the distance between the paws and the bottom borders of the piece broader (similar to distance between the tips of the ears and the upper border of the painting, which looks well done).
Overall this is a very nice piece, and I agree with you about the ear pose, it looks lovely <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>.
Good day!
